How to receive
The appeal aims to make small grants available to combat hardship experienced by individuals as a direct result of the Tornado. Grants will only be made to cover costs that can not be met from another source, such as insurance and regardless of where your are situated at the moment.

The Big Bash Event Sunday 15th January 2006

An event to raise money for the Tornado Hardship Fund is to be held on Sunday 15th January at 6pm till 10pm at the Old Art School on Moseley Road in Balsall Heath. Easy to reach by bus or car, with a direct bus route from the city centre.

There will be a variety of acts, representing the various cultures of the area: Bollywood Dancing, an Asian Fashion Show and DJ, Folk and Jazz Music.

A meal will be served consisting of baltis, nans and rice, all the Asian cuisine that Sparkbrook is famous for, and some pizzas for the kids!

The venue is alcohol free, there are pubs nearby for those who would like a drink after the show.

Birmingham 'Tornado Hardship Fund' Appeal - Friday 23rd September 2005

On Thursday 28 July 2005 a tornado hit parts of Kings Heath, Moseley, Sparkbrook, Highgate and Sparkhill. The tornado which was approx. 135mph caused extensive damage to buildings, vehicles and gardens and 19 people were injured.

The clean up process is well under way with regards to the structural damage but the issues affecting the local community still need to be addressed.
