About the foundation
The Ronnie Bowker Foundation Fund (the foundation) was launched by Ernst & Young and the Bowker family to create a living legacy for Ronnie’s passion for the Birmingham & Black Country community. Ronnie was the office managing partner for Ernst & Young’s Birmingham office for 15 years, and he had a significant personal impact on both our local corporate and social communities, becoming something of an adopted Brummie.
Ronnie led Ernst & Young’s Corporate Responsibility programme in the Midlands, focusing on local education, social and arts projects which were all very close to his heart. Ronnie was always extremely keen to be directly involved in a wide range of initiatives across the Midlands, and inspired many of his colleagues, associates and friends to consider how they could help.
One such venture was the Birmingham & Black Country Community Foundation and we are pleased that the foundation will be administered by the Birmingham & Black Country Community Foundation.
Birmingham & Black Country Community Foundation works with many local donors, by pooling donations into an Endowment Fund, providing a permanent and growing fund for activities that strengthen communities today and in perpetuity.
Our Mission
The primary aim of the foundation is to support both community and voluntary groups working in challenged areas in Birmingham and the wider area, with a particular focus on Arts, Culture, Education and Training. The foundation will endeavour to ensure that our communities benefit both now and in the future, something that Ronnie always strived to do through his own community work.
How to apply for funding
The foundation is not yet live but will be extremely keen to receive applications from voluntary/community organisations that are able to demonstrate that their project will bring benefit to the local community, particularly in one of the following areas: Arts, Culture, Education and Training.
The fund will be open to applications of between £250 and £1500 from individuals and organisations. Applications for funding will be announced by Birmingham & Black Country Community Foundation shortly.
Growing the Fund
You are welcome to donate to the fund - our target is to raise £100,000!
In acknowledgement of your support we will keep you up to date with progress, grants that are made, the impact and difference of grants made through the fund and give you the opportunity to see the difference your grant makes locally.
