Legacies

Millions of people help causes that are important to them during their lifetime. The legacy allows you to continue to help and, as charitable gifts left in your will are exempt from inheritance tax, your money will go further.

For most people, writing their will offers the greatest opportunity to make a really substantial gift to charity.

  • At present almost 7 out of 10 people in the UK population support charities, but fewer than 1 in 20 remember a charity in their will. *Yet it's a very easy way to give and show commitment to a cause.
  • Leaving money in a will offers you an opportunity to put something back into the community and by selecting the Birmingham Community Foundation's endowment for all or part of your gift, the interest/dividend can go on making a difference, year after year. You might also like to consider your legacy becoming a "Named Fund" within the Foundation.
