Gift Aid - Don't let the taxman keep your money!


By Gift Aiding your donations they are worth almost a third more to us, at no extra cost to you!

If you are a higher-rate tax payer then you can also claim additional tax relief of 25p for every £1 donated!


What we need to enable us to claim Gift Aid:

  • Your full name and home address (complete and return a Gift Aid Declaration Form.doc / Gift Aid Declaration Form.pdf)
  • A donation made from a personal bank or building society account - cheques made payable to: Birmingham & Black Country Community Foundation (*we cannot claim Gift Aid on donations from company accounts)
  • For you to be paying income tax or capital gains tax which at least equals the amount the Birmingham & Black Country Community Foundation will claim in the tax year.

*As a company: Simply gross up the amount of your donation to the Birmingham & Black Country Community Foundation, and claim a full tax rebate on that amount through your corporation tax return.

Gift Aid notes:

  • Please notify us if you change your name and address.
  • You can cancel the declaration at any time by notifying us.
  • You must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that we reclaim on your donations in the tax year (currently 25p for each 1 pound you give).
  • If in the future your circumstances change and you no longer pay tax on your income and capital gains equal to the tax that we reclaim, you can cancel your declaration.
  • If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief in your self assessment tax return.
  • If you are unsure whether your donations qualify for Gift Aid tax relief, ask your local tax office for leaflet IR113 Gift Aid.
